Who are we?
Volvo Car Financial Services UK Limited is a new joint venture owned by Volvo Cars and Santander Consumer Finance, in the fast-paced automotive financial services sector, operating across the UK. We have an exciting job opening within our Senior Management Team (SMT) for an IT & Operations Director.

As our new IT & Operations Director you’ll be the one who ensures the IT infrastructure and the sub-contracted business operations for the joint venture are fit for purpose and support the needs of the business both today and as we develop.


What you’ll do
As a member of the SMT, the IT & Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the sub-contracted day-to-day business operations, plus the in-house and sub-contracted IT systems to ensure they are operating effectively, both now and into the future. Reporting to the MD, the role will also take an active part in the overall 3-year strategic plan, the annual business plan and budget to ensure the joint venture delivers the strategic objectives set by the Board of Directors. Specifically the successful candidate will:
  • Drive high standards of operational performance by setting and managing key suppliers and internal functions against KPIs and SLAs
  • Be responsible for IT within VCFSUK, overseeing the development of new systems and solutions (either internally or via key suppliers), as well as ensuring the cyber security and operational resilience processes are in place
  • Support the MD to develop and deliver the annual plan and budget
  • Develop, assess and deliver new business opportunities and initiatives
  • Monitor and assess competitor product innovation, sharing with the SMT as necessary
  • Ensure this business area operates effectively in adherence to the internal policies of the joint venture and legislative/regulatory guidelines of the relevant external authorities
  • Foster a change environment and ensure direct reports are focused on implementing change that will deliver tangible business results/improvements
  • Create high-performing teams and engaged and motivated employees

This role is considered a Certified Role under the FCA Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SMCR) and as such will be subject to significant criminal and credit vetting checks.



Do you fit the profile?
You will have significant management experience gained through working in operational business functions as well as strategically, and will ideally be well versed in the systems and processes of financial services operations including customer proposal, contract initiation and in-life customer service processes, together with:
  • A proven record of successfully managing multiple suppliers
  • Solid understanding of operational and risk principles
  • Experience of working in a complex sub-contracted operational service environment
  • A broad knowledge of the system infrastructures to deliver the operational processes involved in automotive financial services
  • An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques
  • High level of commercial awareness and a strategic mindset
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
