How you’ll make a difference

As an Emergency Service Officer you will make a difference by enabling residents to remain living independently in their own homes.
You will coordinate a rapid response service ensuring the efficient provision of emergency and urgent personal care welfare visits are made to South Gloucestershire residents, enabling them to remain living independently in their own homes.
The hours of this service are 4.30pm to 10.15pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 10.15pm Saturday and Sunday.

What will you be doing?
  • You will review, assess, and implement emergency personal care packages for new and existing service users. Promoting independence and delivering a high standard of personalised care.
  • You will co-ordinate an immediate response to Telecare and Carer’s emergencies and you will be required to use you specialist knowledge, skills and experience to respond to complex situations
  • You will need to assess service users with complex needs in emergency situations out of hours, and compile and implement short term care packages to be reviewed by the appropriate day time services. If un-met needs are identified during assessments or reviews with a service user, you will decide on the most appropriate response.
  • You will also be responsible for ensuring that all responders in your team have a Care Certificate where necessary and that all are up to date with supervisions, team meetings and training.
As a result of a change in service users needs out-of-hours includes evenings and a shift every other weekend .

What we need from you

  • You must have a professional qualification (e.g. NVQ3 or above) in a related field and have relevant experience in health and social care
  • You will have knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice
  • You may also have knowledge of the processes and procedures of an emergency response team
