Role Overview
  • To provide technical information . documentation for computer numerical control machine tools, in order to achieve the most efficient manufacturing methods using all available resources.
  • To Translate project drawings into detailed workshop planning in the form of route cards and the production of controlled diagrams and sketches for manufacture.
  • To input into the specification and standardisation of shop equipment.
Key Accountabilities
  • Interpret sometimes complex mechanical engineering documentation and using a “value engineering” technique convert, compile and develop computer control information using CAM software, along with machine tool set-up sheets and tooling lists. This information is then directed to a variety of horizontal and vertical machine tool centres to enable manufacturing of components to customer specification.
  • Provide detailed tooling packages as dictated by contractual requirements and where nonstandard tooling is required be within monetary budgets.
  • Translate project drawings into detailed workshop planning in the form of route cards, procedures, and controlled diagrams, ensuring that all quality standards, value engineering solutions and testing specifications are included.
  • To assist the commercial team as required on key technical capability factors reviewed during new project proposal stages, this may include estimating labour hours.
  • Collate and present detailed information and prepare relevant documentation for it to be submitted for special expenditure approval.
  • To liaise and support craft machine tool operators, monitoring and improving the manufacturing method during and after normal working hours.
Qualifications / Experience Required / Person Attributes

Essentials
  • HNC / HND in Engineering or Equivalent Education.
  • In depth knowledge of workshop manufacturing techniques
  • Manufacturing experience in machining (although a broad engineering background including fitting,
  • Experience of carbon, stainless and non-ferrous material manufacturing methods.

  • Proficient Use of Microsoft Packages
