We have an exciting opportunity for an for an Improvement Technician Apprentice to join the Continuous Improvement team at our Swindon facility. The Swindon site employs over 700 people over a 250,000 sq ft plant. Swindon is home to our Zydis® fast dissolving tablet development and manufacturing operation as well as a CMC pharmaceutical analytical lab services unit that offers ASAP stability.

As an Apprentice you will learn to implement process improvements on capacity, throughput, yield and the reduction of scrap. You will be responsible for learning and assisting with project improvement work as well as developing a technical knowledge of the process, and performing root cause analysis

Responsibilities:

  • Complete any college-based courses and be prepared to undertake any future training, internally or externally, as required by Catalent

  • Carrying out root cause analysis on manufacturing issues at Catalent Swindon

  • Lead and assist with the development and implementation of robust improvement solutions

  • Ensure all process changes are transferred effectively into production operations and deliver the desired benefits. This includes providing support to production trials as required, and ensuring regular communication both internally and to customers

  • Ensure SOPs, Health and Safety and other legal obligations are complied with.

  • Ensure that all process change activities are carried out in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice, including ensuring impacts of all process changes is assessed and managed prior to implementation, and that necessary protocols are developed and executed to support justification of process change

  • Learn to use data to drive process changes

Training Requirements:

  • Attend all apprenticeship training workshops and lessons, always arriving on time

  • Hand in all apprenticeship assignment work and projects on time as defined by the training provider

  • Be prepared for all tests/exams by comprehensively revising in advance and turning up on time

  • Keep a logbook of everything you learn and gather evidence for your NVQ Assessments

  • Provide monthly updates to your manager on your apprenticeship progress

  • During college or university planned holiday days, complete your normal duties at work

  • Do not book holidays on planned college/university days, unless in exceptional circumstances

  • Plan quarterly meetings with your line manager, to complete the apprentice progress reviews

  • Consistently show a high level of enthusiasm, drive, and energy to get things done

  • Take responsibility for own actions and development

  • A good level of self-awareness and the impact of approach on self & others

  • Maintain effective working relationships

  • Recognizes the need to be efficient and effective

Education or Equivalent Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Math’s at grade C/5 or above.

  • Good analytical thinking, dynamic, pro-active approach to the workload.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • A passion for learning and a positive mindset

  • Ability to produce high quality work with excellent attention to detail

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • The ability to analyse data, extract key information, and draw logical conclusions about the data.

  • Analytical thinker with the ability to critically assess requirements and select “best fit” approach to meeting company objectives.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate at all levels in order to achieve site targets.

  • Ability to represent the company in a professional and highly competent manner.

  • Able to work flexible hours as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly
