Catalent Pharma Solutionsare seeking to recruit Quality Control (QC) Chemistry Manager to lead our QC team in Swindon.

As our QC Chemistry Manageryou will be required to coordinate the activities which comprise the Chemistry Quality Control function within the Quality group, in order to ensure that the company’s products are tested in accordance with the relevant licenses to a standard acceptable to any auditing bodies. This will include control of staff for the sampling and chemical testing of raw materials, packaging and finished products.

The Role

• Ensure that materials and products are tested in accordance with defined procedures and methods, and the requirements of cGMP (GLP), and that any deviations are documented, and appropriate action is taken.

• Supervision of QC Chemistry Team, comprising around 30 staff, including 3 section heads, responsible for sub teams

• Ensure that all QC Chemistry staff are trained appropriately for their duties, and that the training is documented.

• Undertake performance management and develop QC Chemistry laboratory staff and support staff in attaining their development plans.

• To ensure that all specifications and methods of test are kept current, by reference to customers licensing activities and to changes in compendial requirements.

• To perform validation and verification of analytical methods as required and to maintain that validated state.

• To participate in customer liaison, hosting customer visits and audits of the chemistry laboratory and responding to customer queries where these concern Chemistry aspects.

• To arrange for investigation, documentation, and follow-up of any anomalous events within the chemistry laboratories which may have a bearing on cGMP or product quality.

• To be responsible for resource planning and staffing strategy for QC Chemistry using the information supplied in the S&OP, MRP and Finite meetings with a 6 month horizon.

• To maintain close dialogue with Supplier Assurance and Purchasing, ensuring that any issues of quality are resolved in timely fashion.

The Candidate

• Demonstrated management/supervisory experience.

• Must have not less than 5 years’ experience in a quality environment, for pharmaceutical or medical devices.

• Appropriate Science based Degree or relevant industrial experience.

• Strong Leadership skills Demonstrated technical competency

• Strong communication, networking and interpersonal skills

• Demonstrate ability for attention to detail

• Ability to work unsupervised, be self-motivated and take the initiative to introduce new ideas.
