An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Higher Assistant Psychologists to join the progressive and innovative Health and Justice Service within Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidates will work within the Mental Health Team at HMP Holme House.

The Mental Health team is committed to delivering high quality care. The model of service delivery aims to provide timely, evidence-based and accessible mental health assessment and treatment to meet the needs of service users in prison. The post within the mental health teams provide a fantastic opportunity to develop clinically whilst based within an enthusiastic and supportive team.

The successful applicants will join the multidisciplinary health team, working alongside members of prison operational staff. Tasks will include, although not exhaustive of, assessment of mental health of the male residents within the prison, psychometric scoring and interpretation, facilitation of small treatment-focussed groups, individual intervention, audit, staff training and report writing. Experience of delivering evidenced based therapies, i.e. CBT and DBT either individually or within a group setting would be desirable. The successful post-holder will have good communication and interpersonal skills, and preferably will have some experience of risk management in prison or forensic settings.

There is a commitment to providing support and supervision. The post holders will be encouraged to undertake continuing professional development.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis.

In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.
