Health and Safety and Training Manager
Yeovil

We are currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety to join a food manufacturing site based near Yeovil in Somerset. Reporting into the Group Health and Safety Manager, the Successful H&S candidate will be responsible for managing site compliance with the applicable statutory regulations and requirements, providing guidance, advice and training where required as well as identifying, implementing and co-ordinating the Training requirements for the site

Health and Safety and Training Manager Responsibilities:
  • Within the role you will be responsible for mentoring and managing a Health and Safety Apprentice
  • To advise and provide information to site Management ensuring compliance with statutory requirements
  • To ensure there is an effective accident reduction programme and safety improvement plan
  • Ensuring comprehensive Risk assessments and job observations are thoroughly and regularly undertaken and guide and encourage managers to implement corrective action.
  • Monitor health and safety and ensure the policy, procedure and audits are reviewed at least annually
  • To liaise with insurers providing professionally produced information for all claim cases.
  • To ensure the site complies with all H&S legislation by undertaking regular production audits
  • To ensure fire precautions are maintained and co-ordinate fire procedures as necessary
  • Ensure all Health & Safety matters are communicated effectively to all staff
  • Liaise with HR to ensure H&S initiatives and issues are incorporated into the organisational training plan
  • Ensure all factory staff are trained in their areas of work as well as in line with health, safety and food hygiene regulations
  • Maintain training files and ensure sign offs up to date and audit ready
  • Develop and maintain structured processes and practices for delivering continuous improvement

Health and Safety and Training Manager Experience/Skills required
  • A background involving production in a Food Manufacturing environment or a background in Health and Safety in other sectors.
  • Familiarity with carrying out investigations and with formulating conclusions and arriving at recommendations derived from the evidence reviewed
  • NEBOSH qualification or be prepared to undertake this personal development
  • Hold A EAT level 3 or equivalent
  • Have similar experience in a Health and safety / Training role.
