The Opportunity
The Head of People Operations is a generalist position leading the operational and strategic elements of Arcadis Gen’s, systems, platforms, and processes and ongoing business partnering interface with the business. This role will dramatically shape the day-to-day experience of each person at Gen. It offers an exciting opportunity to look across all the global regions in which Gen operates and to create a compelling and regionally consistent employee experience.

Working closely with the CEO and Chief of People and Culture, the successful incumbent will proactively provide insight into emerging opportunities and threats facing Gen and leverage both quantitative and qualitative data. They will help drive the optimization of our existing People function, as well as positioning us strongly for rapid exponential growth.

Your Responsibilities

  • Consistent Experience- To drive the delivery of an operationally efficient, leading edge and values driven employee experience, across each phase in the employee lifecycle. This includes ensuring strong system, platform and policy integration and a recognition of the need for consistency, yet regional appropriateness, when setting new precedent or policy.
  • Scalability- To work closely with all members of the Gen People and Culture team to ensure we are strongly positioned to respond to the people related demands of a fast moving, rapidly scaling technology business. This includes the creation and implementation of a People and Culture operating plan and management of all performance reporting, risk management and assurance activity.
  • Trusted Advisory- To work with the CEO on complex remuneration, benefits, tax, and legal issues pertaining to executive leadership, connecting in as relevant with experts within Arcadis cores Centers of Excellence. This ensures the CEO receives proactive, technical advice and support, specifically pertaining to sensitive ER, legal and remuneration/benefits issues.
  • Build- To develop additional HR infrastructure, policy, and principles, to support Gen’s growth, these would include but not be limited the creation of a strategies for accelerating learning and growth, hybrid ways of working and sustainable working practices.
  • Contribute- To contribute extensively to the ongoing evolution of all elements of the unique Gen people experience, working with other key team members to monitor the user experience, gain insights from the data and to continuously improve all aspects of the People functions impact - from onboarding to engagement to exits and alumni. This includes contributing as appropriate to evolution of the people experience created by Arcadis core.
  • Assure- To take overall accountability for the data protection, data integrity and adherence with all necessary compliance activities related to the People and Culture function. This extends protecting our people’s privacy, the provision of psychological safety and to leading on critical and/or ongoing crisis responses.
  • Transform- To provide leadership and advisory on the people impacts, opportunities and implications arising from the evolution of Gens operating model, this includes internal transformation programs as well as playing a key role in any MA or TUPE activities that may arise
What You Bring
Our ideal candidate will have extensive generalist HR experience, inclusive of a depth of expertise as a senior business partner and trusted advisor, plus a proven track record building the digital HR infrastructure needed to support a rapidly growing technology business.

Must-haves-
  • We are looking for a unique individual, capable of leading the operational delivery of the People and Culture function by championing disciplined execution and embedding and evolving our organizational culture. Previous operational leadership and business partnering experience is critical, preferably gained in a fast-moving technology organization (or equivalent). This is a generalist role, yet requires the incumbent to bring a strategic mindset, strong commercial acumen, change management expertise and superior emotional intelligence.
  • As Gen is a fast-moving business, with bold ambitions for its growth, extensive proven experience as a business partner, functional HR lead and/or specialist will be essential. The successful candidate will be able to move seamlessly from acting as a SME and expert on key HR areas and then also adopt a generalist perspective and serve as a credible, commercial, and influential advisor. A superior level of HR technical capability is essential.

  • Able to pivot, re set and focus quickly as priorities change, underpinned by a strong level of personal discipline, determination, and resilience.
  • A credible communicator in person and in writing, capable of inspiring, energizing and providing clarity to others.
  • Highly motivated to work collaboratively, willing to share what they know, help others and work in a multidisciplinary and often virtual environment.
Nice-to-haves-
  • As Gen is a technology business with a business model anchored in the deployment of SaaS solutions, previous experience in businesses who run this model would be extremely helpful.
  • As Gen is growing rapidly, previous experience in the design and deployment of organisational initiatives related to leadership, talent, mobility, resilience, and inclusion would be seen as advantage.
  • Experience in utilising the principles of lean portfolio management and user centred design would be highly relevant, as would a highly level of quantitative and technology literacy
