Head of Finance – PE Start Up

This is such a unique and exciting opportunity!

Do you want to work for a rapidly expanding and high potential PE firm who are launching a new and exciting renewable energy business?

This is a new venture focused on the renewable energy space. This company has a world class reputation, great backing and a track record of delivering exceptional results.

This is a long-term venture, we are looking for a Head of Finance who can help scale a business and then ideally step into the Finance Director position.

Guildford based, but hybrid working is very much on offer.

This is very much a more commercial role then technical, that said we still need an accountant who knows how to fun a finance function.

If you have direct investment experience, then you would go to the top of our list. This will involve assessing investment opportunities, debt raising and M&A.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for running the finance function, providing oversight of the outsourced accounting provider, and potentially building an in-house finance team if it is considered the right direction to go.
  • Act as a business partner to the operational directors, monitoring ongoing developments against budget and supporting in the tender process for new acquisitions.
  • Providing financial analysis on new acquisitions and support in the preparation of investment papers for committee.
  • Provide operational support such as performance analytics on the battery assets as required.
  • Provide financial oversight of the development companies used, with direct access to their financial systems.
  • Preparation of annual forecast and management committee reports.
  • Orchestrate and provide oversite of the financial, audit and tax reporting.
  • Maintain good relationships with the investors and act as a point of contact on financial matters.
  • Support in future equity raises.
  • Support in future debt raises.
  • Assume some ad hoc corporate responsibilities such as coordinating the company’s advisers with regards to legal, insurance, HR, payroll and pensions.

Your Profile:

We are looking for a technically strong qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) who has a hands-on approach. The ability to understand the commercial implications and contribute to investment decisions, whilst overseeing all financial reporting and risk is critical.

Culturally we are looking for an inquisitive and bright leader, someone who can grow with this rapidly expanding business, and has the potential to step up to a director level position in a relatively short time frame.
