Abingdon & Witney College is an award-winning general college of Further Education with specialist land-based status. Our strategic aim is to Change Lives and Communities by offering high quality vocational, professional and technical education and training, as well as offering inclusive and responsive programmes for all.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Accountant to lead the finance team at Abingdon and Witney College, ensuring financial services are provided efficiently and effectively across all sites in line with College policies and financial regulations.

The role reports into the Finance Director and will be part of the College Leadership Team. You will be based in Abingdon but need to travel to other campuses as and when required.

The key to this role is being able to maintain and develop the integrity of all management and statutory accounting, whilst streamlining and improving the financial processes to ensure value for money.

The successful candidate will have experience of leading a finance team and have exceptional knowledge about the key financial processes (purchase, sales and nominal ledgers), including using third party electronic payment and receipt software.

You will possess excellent management skills to lead the finance team and also a collaborative style to work with budget holders throughout the organisation to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities in the management and oversight of the College’s finances, and understand their area’s financial performance.

This opportunity requires a highly proficient excel user who is able to develop financial management reporting throughout the organisation.

Ideally you will have previous experience of working in Further Education, or a sound understanding of education funding.

You will be able to demonstrate previous experience of working with key external stakeholders (external and internal auditors, banks, tax and VAT bodies) and also be comfortable presenting to internal stakeholders (Senior Management Team, Governing Bodies).

Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent staff benefits including generous pension and holiday schemes, flexible working options, corporate gym membership and cycle/tech schemes.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity before you apply, please contact Human Recourses on human.resources@abingdon-witney.ac.uk

In return, Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme and much more.
