We currently have an exciting opportunity as our Head of Engineering to join the team based in Workington. Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary and become part of our welcoming team.

Holmen Iggesund Paperboard is a Swedish company and a member of the Holmen Group. The Workington Mill produces premium paperboard under the brand Incada. Our paperboard is an integral part of the shopping experience for our client’s customers. Since 2013 we have powered the mill almost entirely by fossil fuel free energy. We value our employees and products highly. Today we are approximately 320 co-workers. Our integrated pulp and paperboard mill is located to the west of the beautiful Lake District in the north of England.

Since the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic our Mill has continued to operate at full production capacity supplying into, amongst others, the food, and pharmaceutical packaging supply chain. Our employees are classified as critical workers and we remain an essential industry. About The Head Of Engineering Role

Best-in-class engineering is integral to the success of our mill. We are seeking a proactive and astute senior leader to join the mill management team, reporting to the Mill Director. Capable of driving improvements in engineering maintenance, with a proven track record of engaging teams and gaining outstanding results.

You will be safety-conscious, ensuring your experienced team have the competence and knowledge to undertake processes safely whilst ensuring maximum machine uptime.

Working closely with production colleagues, ensuring overall equipment efficiency targets are reached and preventative maintenance activities are successfully embedded into our routines.

You will be responsible for compliance with statutory requirements, safety standards, and engineering area budgets.

What we’re looking for in our Head of Engineering:
  • An Engineering/Science Degree or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Excellent, applied knowledge of world-class modern maintenance practices, including criticality assessment, maintenance strategies, condition-based maintenance, etc
  • Significant and relevant experience of senior leadership, organisation development, and change management
  • Training or a qualification in health and safety
