Job description

As a result of exciting new developments and growth South Devon College is looking for a dynamic and experienced person to lead an essential curriculum sector. As a Head of Curriculum working within the department of Hi Tech and Digital, the role will be responsible for the curriculum area of Engineering and Construction Management.

The curriculum scope provides skills training for young people, adults, apprentices and higher education. The range of disciplines includes engineering, manufacturing, photonics, engineering maintenance, electronics and, at higher levels, civil engineering and construction management

The key scope and responsibility of the role is to provide; curriculum leadership at all levels, skills that will ensure the standards of teaching, support, learning and assessment are the highest in the sector and to lead/sustain the curriculum to an ‘Outstanding’ level. The post holder will oversee the leadership and management of staff and ensure the effective delivery of a high-quality learning experience for all students.

As well as continuing to contribute to the skills need of the local area and region, key areas of curriculum developments that the role will lead on includes:

  • Introduction of T levels
  • Re-development of higher level (level 4 and above) qualifications in Civil Engineering and Construction Management
  • Apprenticeship growth
  • Inclusion of sustainability and green skills at all levels across the breadth of technical skills
  • Employer endorsement of all programmes at all levels
