We are looking for a head of compliance advice to join us, primarily supporting our commercial lines of business. Part of the Allianz SE global group, Allianz UK is the second largest general insurer in the UK as a result of the acquisitions of the Liverpool Victoria General Insurance Group and Legal & General Insurance Limited.

Reporting into Allianz UK’s Chief Compliance Officer, the Head of Compliance Advice (Commercial) will work closely with the Head of Compliance Advice (Personal) to ensure the delivery of effective, comprehensive, professional and independent compliance advice and support across all our regulated firms.

The role will mainly be based in Guildford and offers a hybrid working model. There will be travel required to other UK locations including London, Croydon and Bournemouth, and occasionally internationally.

Main Responsibilities

  • Horizon scanning, and advising on the implications of relevant regulatory developments for each business area
  • Providing accurate and pragmatic risk-based advice, guidance and challenge to the first line
  • Representing second line compliance in major initiatives and projects, both in the UK and globally
  • Direct and/or indirect line management, development of employees, and ensuring resources are allocated appropriately
  • Reporting to, and participating in, key business committees
  • Liaising with the other governance functions (Risk, Corporate Governance, Company Secretariat and Legal, and Internal Audit) to ensure the effective operation of the second and third lines of defence
  • The preparation of reports for both executive and Board level committees
  • Working closely with the Head of Regulatory Relations to ensure FCA liaison is complete, accurate and timely
  • Overseeing regulatory actions and activities to ensure these are completed in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Liaising with Allianz Group Compliance and participating in relevant Group initiatives
  • Deputising for the CCO as required

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of EU and UK financial services regulatory developments
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of the UK general insurance market
  • Clear, accurate and concise analysis, advice and risk based reporting
  • Able to influence and engage senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Working in a senior leadership role in a Compliance/Risk or Legal function
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Working with financial services regulators and or other relevant external stakeholders
  • Non-compliance related operational or strategic role experience
  • Educated to degree level or higher at university
  • Insurance and/or legal qualification
  • Professional member of the Chartered Insurance Institute
  • Member of other relevant professional body(ies)

Note: The role holder will be certified under SM&CR.
