About The Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, or London, or near our Seagreen, Greater Gabbard or Beatrice sites.

We have three exciting opportunities for General Managers to take overall responsibility for one of the key multi £billion assets we operate via our Joint Venture companies, Beatrice, Greater Gabbard and Seagreen. With total asset and company performance accountability, you will have critical responsibility for overseeing safe and efficient operations through effective leadership of on-site activities, whilst optimising overall production and financial performance.

As a direct employee of SSER you will manage complexity by simultaneously line managing SSER site-based staff, whilst acting in the best interests of the JV company. You will be accountable to the JV board (including board reporting, co-ordination of board meeting and chairing of operations committees) and you will take responsibility for the delivery of significant P&L and budget for an asset with an EBIT of £150m+.

In addition to the above, your key accountabilities will include:-
  • Overall direct control for Operations & Maintenance (O&M), monitoring risks, asset health, and execution of maintenance plans for JV assets, including reactive and preventative maintenance, as well as Opex and Capex maintenance budgets.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Asset Management, providing input on operational standards and SOPs, the overall maintenance strategy including build/buy decisions, and other appropriate activities.
  • Decide deviations from maintenance plans to take advantage of commercials for JV assets (e.g. optimal wholesale market prices), with input from key stakeholders e.g. EPM, Investment Management, Engineering, etc.
  • Agree long-term hedging strategy, working collaboratively with SSER Commercial Contracts and Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) teams, and as appropriate recommend any necessary changes to offtake mix. Work with EPM, CPPA, Finance and Investment Management in order to monitor commercial performance for assets.
  • Recommend to Offshore Director and JV Board asset investment decisions, and provide input to the Investment Manager on the development of business cases for such activities.
What do I need?

These are critical and high profile roles requiring an experienced, commercially savvy General Manager who can adeptly navigate complexity, and demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills with JV partners and key stakeholders.

We would also love you to have:-
  • Significant experience in a commercial role, including ability to undertake large project business planning and budgeting, an understanding of financial accounts, and experience of dealing with large P&Ls and budgets.
  • Confidence and ability to communicate and influence key stakeholders across the business, up to and including Group Executive Committee Level
  • Ability to write and present board-level papers for significant budget/project approval.
  • Strong people management skill, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a highly skilled workforce within a matrix organisation.
  • Business acumen and proven experience working collaboratively with JV partners (preferred)
