Job Title: Financial Planning & Analysis – Senior Analyst

Job Description Summary:

Actuation Systems is a subsidiary of Collins Aerospace (a Raytheon Technologies company) with annual turnover of $1.5bn and a global presence. Collins Aerospace is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.

This role will report to the the Head of FP&A. The FP&A team are responsible for the analysis and reporting of actual results, delivery of insight-driven forecasts and budgets, and strategic support and assessment for the strategic business plan. The Senior FP&A Analyst will also be the first point of contact for Actuation Aftermarket (turnover of $500m) to provide financial analysis, insight and support to Actuation senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret consolidated forecast numbers, including analysis of individual submitted forecasts to help brief senior management on key issues around delivery of current year financial commitments. Be confident in presenting to senior management, including CFO and CEO.
  • Be accountable for the commercial review of performance, actuals and forecast for Central Repair Division (Global business with turnover of $90m); helping to identify the key issues and their possible resolution and ensuring communication throughout the month to key stakeholders.
  • Lead the Annual Operating plan and Strategic Financial Plan for the Central Repair Division.
  • Assist in delivery of both the annual operating plan process and long range strategic financial plan process for total Actuation, engaging with global sites, Actuation Senior Leadership and Mechanical Systems to ensure accuracy and timeliness of submissions, including the provision of supporting presentations to Actuation Senior Leadership and Mechanical Systems.
  • Strategic analysis of Aftermarket Demand Scenario planning in conjunction with the Aftermarket Analytics team.
  • Provide ad hoc data modelling for strategic projects to Actuation Leadership.
  • Proactively seek to identify opportunities for process improvements across all areas of strategic financial analysis, including critically reviewing and helping to deliver change in existing processes, models and deliverables.
  • Development of a robust process and tools to allow more frequent, effective, longer term business planning (5 year outlook)
  • Interpret consolidated forecast numbers, including analysis of individual submitted forecasts to help brief senior management on key issues around delivery of current year financial commitments. Be confident in presenting to senior management, including CFO and VP.
  • Ensure compliance with RTX accounting policies and procedures in line with US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, international accounting standards

Key Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel skills with experience of managing and interpreting large complex data sets.
  • Strong commercial bias, with good understanding of business cases and investment analysis with experience of working in a commercial environment and contributing to decision making.
  • Familiarity working within a matrix structure, managing multiple stakeholders with different priorities.
  • Flexible team member with commitment to the success of the function and organisation.
  • Proactive self-starter, questioning / inquisitive, not happy with status quo.
  • Ability to communicate finance information to all levels of the business including those without a background in finance.
  • Experience working with multiple geographies including an appreciation for cultural diversity.
  • Solid grounding in best practice within a large corporate environment
  • Desirable : FP&A experience in a manufacturing & engineering business.
  • Desirable : Experience with aftermarket/service sales
