Firewood Delivery Driver

Longleat Estate consists of 3,600 hectares of woodland, parkland, agricultural land and property. The forestry department has an excellent standing within industry and has been pioneering continuous cover forestry in the UK for over 40 years and runs a successful firewood business processing and retailing over 2000 tonnes of sustainable wood each year from our one stop firewood shop destination.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Firewood Delivery Driver to join our team, they will play a key role in supporting the forestry firewood production operation by ensuring a consistent service is provided to our customers whilst carrying out the delivery of the firewood and associated products.

What will this role entail?

Reporting to the Forestry Yard Supervisor, your duties include supporting in the production of firewood, the wood yard and to support the Office Administration Team in managing the diary and deliveries schedule. To maintain and top up the front of house and point of sale products.

Key Duties Will Include
  • Effective implementation of the duties of firewood production, weighbridge operation and yard sales, all to the highest standards.
  • To load firewood using a telehandler / tractor loader with front bucket.
  • Delivery of firewood and other products including liaison with customers and others to arrange delivery times.
  • Maintenance and where appropriate, organize the repair and servicing of all vehicles, plant and machinery in their care to the highest standard.
  • To maintain a drivers CPC for commercial deliveries using a 7.5 T Vehicle.
  • Effective and efficient use of all plant, machinery and equipment to ensure maximum output to the highest standards, using the best and safe working practices.
  • To be responsible for the security and accounting of all materials, plant, machinery, equipment, produce and moneys, handled and used in the course of employment.
What will I need to be considered for this vacancy?
  • DVLA driving licence
  • CPC 7.5 T driver certificate.
  • Telehandler loader experience
  • Experience of working a fast paced customer and agricultural service environment.
  • The ability to operate a till system for sales.
  • Good organisational skills to arrange deliveries.
  • Experience of delivery driver work.

You’ll be employed on a permanent 40 hour contract, working 5 days out of 7, including weekends, evening and bank holidays as required. Start and finish times varying in accordance with opening times.
