The Risk, Legal and Compliance team provides valuable support across GoHenry. The Risk team plays a vital role in helping GoHenry to play its part in fighting financial crime by reducing the risk of its business being misused for criminal purposes such as money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions avoidance and fraud as we continue our expansion from the UK into the US and beyond.

The role will:

  • Report directly to our Head of Business Risk and Compliance.
  • Lead the Risk Team to help them make sure they address our payments and financial crime risks efficiently and effectively. It will therefore be based in Farnborough/Camberley with travel between sites likely.
  • Work very closely with our Financial Crime Intelligence Manager to manage these risks.
  • Collaborate with our other Operations teams to deliver great customer outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with our Product and Operations teams to help ensure that new products and services can be managed effectively in BAU.

The Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who has a strong background in leading operational teams and has sound knowledge of financial crime matters ideally within the payments industry. They will need to be adept at leading people, be able to keep them engaged through change as well as spot emerging problems and deal with them swiftly. They will like to take on responsibility, be comfortable making decisions and know when to escalate matters quickly.

Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes impacting financial crime and payments risks and be able to translate these into changes needed to processes.
  • Plan and organise the risk team including scheduling and allocating resources to ensure that areas of highest risk are tackled on a timely basis.
  • Perform 121s and appraisals to maintain high levels of engagement and performance.
  • Produce regular reports that summarise the performance of the team and our financial crime risks eg levels of chargebacks, eKYC performance, work backlogs, SARs, MID performance, PEPs.
  • Ensure that SARs are raised on a timely basis with information that meets the needs of our partners.
  • Ensure that potential screening matches (eg PEPs and sanctions) are properly investigated to determine the probability of matching and escalated as appropriate.
  • Ensure that we meet the requirements of our issuing bank and other partners in respect of managing financial crime risks, producing monthly/quarterly/annual returns and handling general queries.
  • Devise OKRs for the team, monitor and report on their adherence.
  • Help increase business knowledge of financial crime and payment risks through awareness activities.
  • Support the career development of risk team members.
