We are seeking an experienced Financial Crime Operations Manager, Consumer to join our growing Financial Crime Operations team in the 1LoD, to provide leadership to the first line of defence Financial Crime Operations function, ensuring legal and regulatory obligations are met in relation to financial crime prevention activities undertaken.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first line subject matter expert in relation to anti-money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud as well as anti-bribery and corruption.
  • Responsible for completing financial crime activities in a compliant and efficient manner, including but not limited to transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting, customer screening, ongoing monitoring and external data requests.
  • Liaison with staff across STB Group on AML, CTF and Sanctions related matters and establishing close working relationship with STB Compliance and Financial Crime teams.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business on all areas of financial crime within the confines of the Group Financial Crime related policies. Act as a facilitator between the business and the Group Financial Crime Risk team.
  • Create and maintain effective financial crime framework and documentation.
  • Ensure delivery of regular and appropriate Financial Crime awareness training across the Group.
  • Work with relevant third parties and law enforcement agencies.
  • Contribute to the on-going improvement of controls including the review and refinement of role specific training, transaction thresholds and reports etc.
  • Fully co-operate with risk management and audit oversight, owning any remedial actions identified.
  • Provide updates for, and attend governance meetings, where appropriate.

People management

  • Manage the day to day running of the first line Financial Crime Operations function. Set team and personal objectives for team members. Monitoring these through performance management provisions, including monthly 1-2-1s, regular performance management reviews.
  • Provide and execute comprehensive training for staff in relation to Financial Crime related matters.

What you will Bring:

  • Experience of leading a team, ideally in Financial Services.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the UK financial crime regulatory regime across all areas of financial crime including, AML, CTF, Fraud and Sanctions.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of industry recognised systems and databases used to combat financial crime.
  • Competent in reviewing, understanding and applying legislation and regulation in a commercial and practical manner.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the business and be able to handle and manage conflict.
  • Works well with others in the team and acts as a role model, setting high standards of quality and demonstrating commitment to self-development. Qualifications:
  • Holds an industry recognised financial crime related professional qualification (desirable).
