Job Title: Finance Officer

Tenure: Permanent

Salary: £26,907 per annum (£33,634 FTE)

Hours: 30 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY:

The role of the Finance Team is to provide a comprehensive and supportive finance and administrative service, both internally and externally, to ensure that the financial management of the Charity and Trading Company meets all statutory requirements.

The Finance Officer supports the team with day-to-day financial management, processing and record keeping. The postholder has responsibility for handling and banking donations, the management of the Charity’s Trading company accounts, and supporting the processing of payroll.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST:

Key responsibilities of the job

  • Supports the management, administration and preparation of payroll and pensions for our external provider to process.
  • Supports regular audits, ensuring appropriate financial procedures are adhered to and assists with the reviewing of procedures in practice.
  • Supports the Finance Team Leader with day-to-day finance and payroll tasks and supporting the workload of the Finance Assistant.

  • Oversees the day-to-day management of the Charity’s Trading company accounts including the quarterly VAT return.
  • Maintains online platforms for sales and donations. Analyses the data and prepares reports as required.
  • Handles cash, cheques and credit card payments, whilst embedding systems and processes to ensure that all income is collected, recorded, banked in a timely and accurate manner and the relevant information is shared with other teams.
  • Maintains, sets up, and retrieves the financial information, ensuring that internal policies and procedures are followed.
  • Performs accounting computations and calculations accurately, identifying discrepancies, and resolving any errors.
  • Handles high volumes of confidential financial data and information, storing and retrieving it following the internal data management policy.
  • Assists in the preparation of income and expenditure accounts and balance sheets and prepares internal reports as required.
  • Supports the Finance Team Leader with management accounts and other financial reports as required including, accurate analyses, forecasts, and other information to support the Senior Team.
