We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to be based from our Birmingham office. The purpose of the financial accounting and reporting team is to ensure all monthly reporting into the centralised group function is accurate and timely, lead the external audit process to appropriate sign-off (interim and year end). Complete the statutory accounts in accordance with international accounting standards. Maintain and review the integrity of the balance sheet.

The team comprises of a mix of full and part qualified accountants completing a wide range of activities to ensure all elements of accounting and reporting are as accurate as possible.

Main Responsibilities
  • Continuously review processes ensuring they are as efficient as possible
  • Able to analyse and interpret large data sets from multiple sources in differing formats
  • Management of part qualified accountants on specific activities such as balance sheet reporting and key elements within the vast pension process.
  • Co-ordinating external audit being the key point of contact between the business and the auditors
  • Preparing ad-hoc reports analysis for internal and external stakeholders
  • Key understanding of UK tax requirements
  • Keep up to date with current changes to international accounting standards to ensure accurate reporting within key financial statements, providing technical support to sector colleagues on a wide range of accounting matters.
Ideal Candidate
  • Qualification in ACA, CIMA, ACCA (or equivalent)
  • High numeric and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate oral and written information concisely and logically
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence internal and external parties
  • Ability to effectively plan and organise own work
  • Ability to take on a broad spectrum of work under pressure and to deliver in agreed timescales
  • Positive attitude towards colleagues
  • Up to date on current and planned changes to international accounting standards
  • SAP/Cognos experience (desirable)
