Howdens Joinery is a business undergoing an exciting period of transformation and growth, and it is currently positioned just outside the FTSE100. We are now looking for a Finance Manager to join our busy team in Howden, in Yorkshire, an individual who will help us to manage our Capital Investment programme and to deliver optimum productivity and efficiencies year-on-year within Manufacturing.

This is a newly created role which will oversee two key areas within Supply Operations. Your role will be to both oversee the Capital investment programme, and to also drive financial performance and business partnership at our newly acquired worktop manufacturing site, Howdens Work Surfaces in Holme Upon Spalding Moor, just 8 miles from Howden.

What you will be doing:

General:

  • Period end financials & reporting, accurately and on time, with strong analytical commentary
  • Drive the budget process, including value added analysis and commentary, business challenge and completion on time
  • Identify, present and challenge senior stake holders with profit opportunities and actions required, and ensure these actions are delivered on time.
  • Manage and develop the team to ensure department runs efficiently, and that training needs are identified.

Capital Investment Programme:

  • Own the Capital Calendar, ensuring that business cases are developed, leading to Exec approval on time
  • Support the development of business cases on key investment decisions, ensuring financials are accurate and challenging assumptions made

Howdens Work Surfaces Site:

  • Ensure weekly costs and operational KPIs are fit for purpose and reported on time, escalating issues where necessary
  • Drive profitability and margin, with capacity for growth being developed profitably.
  • Work closely with the operators to evaluate operational performance.

What you will bring:

  • Finance professional with experience of leading teams within an operational environment.
  • A qualified accountant with a recognised Finance qualification.
  • Knowledge across a wide range of business functions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience, injecting challenge to drive performance, and managing multiple stakeholders at all levels including senior leadership.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with a passion to deliver operational benefit to shareholders.
  • Strong communicator who understands the business agenda and strategy.
  • Embraces change, and an ability to think strategically and tactically.
  • Organisational and planning skills.
  • Customer focused, able to deliver to tight deadlines, responding quickly to changes in direction and priorities.
