Finance Manager

Are you an experienced Accountant looking to make a difference in a growing business?

We are excited to be working together with an innovative engineering business based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Our Finance recruiter Kerri-Ann Hargreaves is supporting this business with the recruitment of a Finance Manager. This role is integral to the future growth of the business and to providing robust financial control.

This owner managed business are world renowned specialists within their industry. Operating within a niche sector supporting on worldwide projects and providing professionally managed engineering solutions in a complex space.

As the standalone Finance Manager, you will have exposure to all financial activity, provide commercial support to the senior management team and take accountabilities for all financial transactions as well as supporting on projects.

The Responsibilities Of The Role Will Include
  • Create and maintain budgets; annual and project based
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • Monthly financial management reporting
  • Report on R&D related expenditure
  • Provide financial information as part of tendering/new business; budgeting, providing financial/people information and document quality reviews
  • Assisting Accountants in preparing annual accounts and R&D claim
  • Applying for and maintain records for funding/grants/financing. Report internally and externally on funding received and their requirements e.g. job creation
  • Journal entries, prepayments, accruals
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Expenses management
  • Depreciation
  • VAT reporting and return management
  • Tax, NI, VAT management and reporting to HMRC
  • Setting up bank payments, making payments
  • Maintain fixed asset register
  • Ad hoc monthly reporting to support senior management
  • Weekly and monthly financial transactions to support preparation of management accounts
The ideal candidate will take ownership of the department, with a hands-on attitude, collaborative in nature and confident working directly with the senior management team.

Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering business
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experienced user of Office 365 including Excel
  • XERO experience
