Avanti Recruitment have partnered with a nationwide ophthalmic test equipment company to recruit a Field Service Engineer to join their growing team as the company expand and go from strength to strength.

The company are one of the leading companies in the UK for installation, repair and servicing for high end ophthalmic equipment used in opticians across the UK.

We’re recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join their team where you’ll work closely with their customers and be responsible for installation, maintenance and servicing for their equipment at customer sites.

Duties Include

Equipment fault diagnostics and onsite repairs (where possible)

Prioritising jobs and workload

Ensuring maintenance and service work is carried out in accordance with processes

You’ll Need To Be

Customer-focused: able to liaise with customers relating to new and ongoing repairs and deal with customers keeping them informed of progress and timeframes.

Able to produce site reports to send back to HQ

Comfortable liaising with the central service team for ordering replacement parts and arranging returns for work that can’t be done on-site.

Experience Required

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Experience with electronic repairs, an understanding or circuit diagrams and schematics
  • Able to conduct electronic test down to component level and use electronic test equipment like multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Practical electronics skills, good soldering skills etc
  • Experience in a technical or highly regulated industry is preferred: medical devices or other safety critical or standards driven environment like automotive, aerospace is preferred.
