The Role

NFU Mutual’s Tiverton agency has an exciting opportunity for a Farm Account Executive on a permanent contract.


As a Farm Account Executive within our growing team, you will play a key role in the success of an expanding local business, contributing to the smooth running of the office and ensuring the customer is at the heart of everything we do. Providing exceptional customer service, you will handle enquiries, provide insurance quotations and undertake insurance transactions and general sales tasks including prospecting with a ‘can-do’ proactive attitude. You will also maximise sales opportunities, cross selling to existing clients and assisting with renewal retention by using your excellent conversational skills to make the most of every call.

Duties Include


  • Find, prospect and obtain new farm insurance clients

  • Review, retain and advise on commercial and farm insurance client’s requirements

  • Process all customer instructions for policy amendments to meet required completion standards

  • Identify and initiate cross-selling opportunities and activities to new and existing customers

  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of NFU Mutual General Insurance products, as applicable to product licences

  • Work with the NFU to sell and retain NFU Membership

  • Obtain appointments for our Financial Advisor, to contribute towards the Agency target

  • Working within Compliance Framework required by the Company / Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

  • Use of Microsoft Word & Excel as a minimum

  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with customers, all members of agency and NFU Mutual staff

  • Comply with all applicable sections of the NFU Mutual insurance compliance manual for the agency network, the agency guide and local agency procedures

  • Maintain record keeping requirements for your role

  • Produce correspondence to required time frames and quality standards

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management Team

  • Be prompt, reliable and trustworthy

  • Introduce our Risk Management Services and understand the importance of it

  • Be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal. Establish yourself as a key contact for client liaison

  • Good emotional intelligence with clients and internal partners

  • Possess good IT Skills (particularly Outlook, Word & Excel)

  • Be able to demonstrate problem solving skills and use your own judgement

  • The ability to perform well under pressure, juggling multiple tasks, whilst delivering results within tight deadlines

  • Have a flexible and open attitude, with plenty of common sense

  • Bring energy and fun to work

  • Exemplary customer service skills

  • Have excellent organisation skills

  • Careful attention to detail

  • A proactive, enthusiastic and dedicated approach with an eagerness to grow and develop

This position is based in our Tiverton office.

Working week:
Monday – Friday 9.00am till 5pm (35.00 hours p/w)


Salary – £20,000 - £26,000 Plus up to 10% annual bonus


Qualifications required:
Maths, English and IT GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C or above (Grade 4 or above)
