We require proactive and hardworking staff to work as part of a team within Cleaning Services.

The role involves cleaning in non-clinical areas providing and maintaining the highest standard of cleaning to all areas ensuring at all times the highest degree of cleanliness, safety and care.

Hours of work will be 37.5 per week working 5 days out of 7 Monday to Sunday between the hours of 6am and 5pm.

Cleaning experience is desirable though full training will be given. Responsibilities will include deep cleaning tasks such as hard floors, fixtures and fittings including sanitary areas of toilets, bath/shower areas. Replenishment of disposable commodities, i.e., soap, gel and hand towels as required and the removal of waste from all areas to designated collection points.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Facilities Assistant will work as part of a team within cleaning and food services within the Trust’s Facilities zonal structure.

The role of Facilities Assistant (Cleaning and Food Service) is multi-skilled and involves catering and cleaning duties within designated patient/non-patient areas of the Trust, carrying out catering tasks and ensuring that cleaning standards are achieved and maintained.

The Facilities Assistant will undertake allocated tasks in a flexible, efficient manner working within defined rotas and work schedules according to Trust policies and procedures.

The post holder will have their main base of work on either campus, City Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre or Ropewalk House however there may be occasions to cover another area.

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge or training equivalent to NVQ Level 1/2 in either Cleaning or Catering.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within either catering or cleaning services
  • Good knowledge of health & safety including COSHH, safe systems of catering/cleaning tasks.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in health or cleaning sector would be an advantage.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
