The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Engineering Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of day to day facility and equipment operation as well as key engineering, process, technology and facility construction projects; in accordance with Business Plan objectives and the Sales and Operations Planning Process.

The Challenge

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining World Class, Lean, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Quality processes, and other advanced manufacturing methodologies and systems.
  • Ensuring the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively to attain specific objective and goals.
  • Managing Manufacturing Engineers work schedules and budgets related to New Production Introduction (NPI) and the development and introduction of new manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Identifying and implementing technological & manufacturing improvements aimed at improving Quality, reducing the overall manufacturing cost and maximising company profitability
  • Ensures production equipment is capable and has capacity for growth; involves integrating equipment, people, material flow systems, and information systems.
  • Direct and support the engineering team in order to achieve KPI’s in areas such as Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Provides leadership to technical personnel to ensure ongoing product & process improvements to meet quality, CPI, CI and production goals, for example, defect reduction initiatives.
  • Provides direction to technical support as required for critical process and product issues.
  • Works closely with production and support teams as required.
  • Develop and support new manufacturing processes.
  • Leads both NPI engineering to provide input and technical customer support in product design (DFX).
  • Analyze system requirements, capacity, cost, and customer needs to determine feasibility of a project and development plan.
  • Determine capital equipment needs & development of the budget process for equipment, training, software, and equipment installation projects.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or related field
  • Significant technical and managerial experience working in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility is an asset
  • Experience in lean manufacturing techniques
  • Project Management, cGMPs
  • Clear communicator and strong people management experience
