Are you our next Engineering Manager? We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what’s possible for Airfield Engineering Team.

The Engineering team deliver what matters. They protect, maintain, and repair our infrastructure. From the electricity that powers this place. Giant plant rooms that heat and cool the airport. To the specialist equipment on the airfield too!

What is the role?

The Airfield Engineering Manager requires strong leadership of the maintenance team and the effective management of Airside operation and passenger sensitive equipment, the availability of which is subject to stringent quality service levels agreed with the regulator (CAA). These assets include but are not limited to; the runway and taxiway Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) control and monitoring system, the AGL network, fixed electrical ground power (FEGP), passenger boarding bridges (PBB), stand entry guidance systems (SEGS) and apron lighting.

What will you do?
  • Ensure that the daily plan completion is executed by the Engineering Leaders, and they are suitably supported to ensure shifts are resourced to deliver it.
  • Ensure all passenger, people, and profit performance targets and compliance/ regulatory requirements are met through effective leadership and management of the Engineering Leaders.
  • Delivery of Core Service Standards (CSS) through team and asset performance.
  • Agrees, reviews and coaches’ performance of the team, via the Engineering Leaders to ensure that targets are met, and team member potential is fulfilled.
  • Engaging with key Stakeholders across the business to drive continuous performance improvements.
  • Taking a lead role in asset stewardship processes, procedures and future development in line with ISO55001 standards.
  • Producing Project initiation documents and Statements of Need for a range of continuous improvement/asset replacement activities.
  • Effective management of third-party maintenance contracts.
  • Ensures departmental working areas meet engineering EHS standards.

  • Leading and managing multi-disciplined technical teams.
  • Delivering continuous improvement in team and facility performance.
  • Effective relationship management in a complex service environment.
  • Effective customer interface skills.
  • Overseeing contract deployment in a complex service environment.
  • Educated to at least HNC level or equivalent
