More About The Energy Manager Position

We are looking for a proactive Energy Manager who will champion an ethos of success and innovation, and drive continuous improvement. You will be an integral part of Mears Facilities Management Team but will also work with the sustainability team to improve our carbon net zero offer for commercial properties.

As Energy Manager you will plan, regulate and monitor energy use across a wide portfolio of buildings and assets in both a commercial and domestic arena for both FM and the wider Group. Your aim will be to improve efficiency by evaluating energy use, creating feasibility studies and leading on energy efficiency initiatives through; lifecycle replacement plans, retrofit projects, behaviour change programmes and other carbon reduction plans

What are we looking for?
  • A background in facilities management experience of working in a FM environment on both Commercial and domestic buildings
  • Working with diverse client group
  • Relevant qualification in Energy engineering, retrofit or asset management
  • Substantive experience in an Energy Manager role
  • Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and energy usage
  • Previous experience in Energy saving or Carbon Net Zero projects
  • Client relationship management experience
  • Ability to collect, analyse and report on energy usage data and produce reports for future energy saving initiatives and projects.
  • Customer focussed
  • Ability to share knowledge and influence others on energy saving initiatives identified
  • Full drivers license
How will your day look?
  • Stay informed of current market trends and government initiatives in order to develop, co-ordinate and implement strategies, policies and projects to reduce energy consumption across a wide portfolio of commercial and domestic buildings across the Group.
  • Conducting energy use surveys and producing cost benefit analysis, spend to save and spend to reduce consumption reports to inform future lifecycle spend budgeting and provision.
  • Periodically collate and report on all energy usage for a variety of property types, including but not limited to, residential, commercial, public sector and educational to inform Branch and Business leaders on energy consumption across their portfolio. Then to provide advice and reports on energy / cost saving initiatives.
  • To identify, develop and implement new asset, retrofit and energy related opportunities, including working in conjunction with existing and new clients to assist them in their energy management and carbon reduction plans.
  • To attend client meetings as required.
  • To act at all times in accordance with Mears Group Policies, Processes and systems.
  • Compliance with ISO9001, 14001 and 18001 at all times.
  • To assist in the preparation of bids and local business development activities.
