How you’ll make a difference

As an Employment Support and Development Officer you will make a difference by working with employers and promoting the development of opportunities, particularly for young people and adults facing barriers progressing to employment.

What will you be doing?
  • Working as part of the skills team and linking closely with local employers you will promote and support the development of opportunities which will lead to sustained employment.
  • You will develop work experience, job shadowing, part time work and volunteering opportunities based on a person-centred approach.
  • This is a varied role where you will be working directly with employers and agencies, promoting job fairs, employer engagement days alongside other employment opportunities, ensuring information is available on the local offer.
  • You will be responsible for identifying and working with other colleagues to support the development of new programmes and offers to vulnerable groups such as specialist coaching and advice and working closely with specialist providers such as special schools, colleges and community learning to support clients to access appropriate IAG and progression routes to employment.

What we need from you

  • Up-to-date knowledge and experience of implementing of best practice within employment support.
  • Experience of being able to work independently, and flexibly within the wider context of a small team, to effectively deliver employability, progression and learning services.
  • An ability to demonstrate clear and innovative thinking in assessing challenges and problem solving.
Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
