What is it all about?

Working on-site at one of our HMP secure units, our Employment Coaches recognise and record the progress and achievement of prisoners working within the prison. They are responsible for the delivery and assessment of personal development and employability skills, supporting prisoners to build their Employment and Training Portfolios in preparation for their release. They will manage a caseload of prisoners, coaching and assessing them in their place of work, supported by workplace supervisors.

How can you stand out from the crowd?

You will need to demonstrate high ethical standards, take personal accountability for everything you do, and always want to be the best. Ideally you will have some experience in an Information and Guidance, or Employability focussed role. You should be able to engage with individuals with complex needs in an empathetic and impactful manner and believe every individual’s ability to make positive changes in their life. You will ned to confident working in a secure environment and be committed to making a difference to the lives of the prisoners you engage with.

Please note there are restrictions in place when working in a Secure Environment. Electronic items such as mobile phones or tablets are not permitted. Some prisons do not allow any money to be taken in. In that case, you exchange money for tokens which you can exchange for tea/coffee/food etc.
