Summary

Stable Micro Systems Ltd are leaders in the world of texture analysis & volume measuring systems. We need an enthusiastic and versatile Electronics Design Engineer (with previous design experience) of scientific equipment in a quality conscious environment.
Role description:
Development/improvement/enhancement/maintenance of a varied range of existing designs
Hands-on Design, prototyping & testing of new products/items/assemblies
Hands-on Design and build of production test equipment for same products/items/assemblies
Ensuring EMC compliance of products using internal & external EMC test facilities
Production of appropriate design documentation for manufacture of items
Production of appropriate documentation for sales staff and instruction/user manuals
Working directly with production, sales staff and occasionally distributors/customers
Working directly with sub-contract manufacturers and suppliers
Achieving CE marking of products
Adapting to the ever-changing requirements within a small company

Work Skills/Demonstrable Abilities:
  • Candidates with a BSc (2:2) or a higher degree in a relevant electronics-engineering course from a UK University.
  • Basic Analog components / circuits (essential)
  • Circuit analysis and theory (essential)
  • Operational Amplifier circuits (essential)
  • Analogue-Digital Conversion (essential)
  • Microprocessor & digital logic circuitry (essential)
  • CAD Schematic layout (essential)
  • Microsoft word/excel/outlook (essential)

Knowledge of:
  • embedded ’C’ (desirable)
  • VHDL for CPLDs or FPGAs (desirable)
  • JTAG (desirable)
The successful candidate will be an experienced, hands-on design engineer with good practical skills. Extensive experience of hands-on design in a development environment, practical ability and flexibility are key. The candidate must be keen to learn new skills and be able to work both individually and in a small multidisciplinary team. The role involves much work with surface mount components. Local candidates preferred.
