How To Contribute To Our Vision

We are looking for Electrical Control Engineer who wish to work in the field of power converter control and develop new control systems for the next generation of large multi megawatt wind turbines. Located in our Keele offices the successful candidates will find themselves working with experienced engineers to specify, implement, test and deploy power converter control systems for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy wind turbines.

These engineer role(s) allow the successful candidates to participate with aspects of the development of new control systems, right through from simulation and laboratory to the turbine and windfarm level testing, and in future support the deployment across the global fleet

Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to:
  • Develops & Tests domain specific components
  • Identifies and select components, materials, parts, and semi-products appropriate for domain-specific system design
  • Creates domain-specific models and tolerance analyses to simulate domain-specific design concepts
  • Calculates and creates final layout including documentation and specification for parts, assemblies, or finished products
  • Maintains technical product files
  • Analyzes existing development procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Upgrades the design of existing devices by adding domain-specific elements.
  • Analyzes localization requirements and designs/adapts products and solutions accordingly.
  • Interacts with internal stakeholders such as support representatives, developers, technical writers, project managers, and quality assurance personnel
  • Plans, coordinates, and tracks activities in her / his area of technical responsibility
What You Need To Make a Difference

A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for…
  • Knowledge of Control theory and application
  • Time and/or frequency domain modelling experience on platforms such as MATLAB Simulink, RSCAD Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS), PSCAD
  • Knowledge of google test and C & C++ would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Power electronic drives, vector control, Pulse Width Modulation would be an advantage.
  • Engineering degree which includes a significant proportion of electrical and electronic engineering
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technically complicated topics concisely
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative in solving technical issues
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% time for domestic and international travel
