A Lexcel accredited firm in Eastbourne seeks a duty solicitor on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a skilful Crime Duty Solicitor to join our client’s thriving practice. The successful applicant will handle a complex caseload, whilst attending clients from initial arrest to trial. Crime Duty accreditation is essential for this position.

Responsibilities

• Representing clients detained at police stations
• Attending police stations
• Magistrates’ and Crown Court cases
• Bail applications
• Murder
• Legal Aid applications
• Motoring offences
• Drafting instructions to counsel and expert witnesses
• Representing vulnerable clients

The Candidate

• Experience as a duty solicitor is a pre-requisite
• Technically proficient in all aspects of criminal matters
• A strong communicator, with the ability to interact with people from all walks of life
• Ability to meet deadlines whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy
• Works well as part of a team but equally comfortable working on your own initiative
