The Range Infrastructure Technical Team (RITT) Manager is responsible for providing advice on safe small arms range infrastructure based on the policy set out in DSA03.OME Part 3 and best practice. This can involve case work away from on site in both the UK and overseas to attend meetings, undertake ground survey work, analysis of technical data and support/assist in the production of computer aided design (CAD) drawings. This post works within a small, technical team where collaboration is key to ensure the team remains lead subject matter experts in the field of small arms range infrastructure.

DIO RITT are based in Warminster and operate across the UK including overseas.

ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities

Provision Of Advice On Safe Range Infrastructure
  • Maintain knowledge of DSA03.OME Part 3, range safety notices and best practice
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders including serving military, civil servants and external contractors
  • Develop the ability to deliver presentations to individuals and large audiences on range related subjects
Undertake Range Compliance Checks
  • Carry out ground surveys using Global Position System and Total Positioning System survey equipment
  • Assist in the production of CAD drawings to provide compliance assessments
  • Production of reports detailing survey and compliance assessment findings
Interrogate Range Infrastructure Design Drawings And Specifications
  • Interpret design drawings to determine compliance against DSA03.OME Part 3
  • Develop understanding of ballistic effects and how these are applied in range design

Full UK Driving License - Car
The post is required to travel to the training estate both UK and overseas. Many of the locations are not reachable via public transport and therefore without a car driving license the post holder would not be able to fulfil the key requirements of the role.

Desirable Experience & Skills
  • Experience of dealing with military firing ranges or training areas
  • Experience of working with and interpreting policy documentation
  • AutoCAD or similar drafting software qualification
