Job Description

The Challenge
This role will be part of the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) team that is responsible for the financial management of both In-Year and the Annual Budgetary Cycle (ABC) budgets covering the Corsham and Northwood PFI’s within the Operational Finance function.
ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities
Primarily to provide financial support for the Corsham and Northwood PFI’s.
In Year Management
  • Deliver accurate and robust monthly forecasts for Northwood and Corsham PFI’s
  • Clear and detailed explanation of variances
  • Provide clarity on the financial position of the PFI’s to relevant stakeholders (ie Central Management Team, Finance Business Partner)
  • Carry out annual reviews of the contract spend/outturn against approval levels, taking action where necessary.
Annual Budgetary Cycle (ABC) Process
  • Engage with the Contract Management Team and Regional Delivery Teams to produce a robust ABC submission, as per prescribed instructions and timetable.
  • Provide a full explanation of any variances in comparison to the previous submission, current actual/outturn.
Internal and External Stakeholder Communication
  • Compile quarterly ARAc returns for Northwood and Corsham PFI’s
  • Prepare and provide responses to National Audit Office (NAO) Audit samples and other queries
  • Provide monthly finance updates to the Central Management Teams (CMT) and Regional Delivery Team through monthly Contract Review Meetings
Leadership
  • Line Management
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the DIO Guiding Principles
  • Develop team members and assist line managers in delivering departmental goals
  • Ensure local compliance with mandatory requirements, eg H&S training
  • Promote strong working relationships both within CMT Teams and across DIO and MOD
Desirable Experience & Skills
  • Experience - Experience of PFI arrangements and finance
  • Experience - Experience of working within multiple discipline teams
  • Experience - Using Sharepoint and MS Teams
  • Qualification - AAT or part qualified CCAB (actively working towards qualification) or hold/working towards an equivalent accountancy qualification
