The Digital Journalist will source, interview, write and post compelling and creative content for the RAF Air Cadets’ major nationwide channels including the national website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. Speed and accuracy are essential.
The organisation is 60,000-strong with 1,200 squadrons and units across the UK and abroad and the Digital Officer must be confident when dealing with all elements of the organisation and also be prepared to travel if required.

Responsibilities

The work of the post can be fast moving, requires a heightened news sense and political nous. The ideal candidate will be creative, resilient and capable of dealing with high profile news.
This candidate for this post should have excellent written English and grammar, preferably of at least A-level standard or equivalent plus a degree, or similar, in journalism, media, marketing or similar and NCTJ or CIM accreditation. Candidates with extensive professional media experience but no degree will also be considered. The ability to produce infographics is helpful but not essential. Some website backend contract work will also be required.
Knowledge of content management systems such as Mura, or similar, and Hootsuite, plus analytics is desirable but training can be given. The successful candidate will be super organised, self-motivated, have the ability to think on their feet.
The Digital Journalist should also be familiar with editing imagery and, if required, creating and uploading video.
The ability to drive is desirable.
