The University of Cambridge is one of the largest recipients of European Framework funding anywhere in the world, and in support of its continuing success in attracting EU and International funding an exciting opportunity has opened-up for a research support professional to further develop their career within a busy and dynamic research office.

Cambridge Research Office is looking to recruit an experienced research finance administrator with supervisory or management experience to join the EU and International team within Research Operations. This varied and multi-faceted role will give the successful applicant the opportunity to gain a thorough and specialist knowledge of European Framework funding as well as major international funding schemes. Among the role’s core tasks will be interpreting EC Framework funding regulations for Horizon Europe - as well as previous frameworks such as Horizon 2020 - managing and undertaking the financial reporting and administration of a number of Cambridge-led projects, and supporting more junior staff with their financial reporting. As part of the Research Operations Office, the post-holder will work closely with other functional support teams ¿ in particular colleagues in finance and compliance - as well as with principal investigators, academic departments, and external research partners. Frequent contact with EC representatives as well as with other key funders will also be fundamental to the role.

With significant research finance management experience, ideally gained within a higher education institution and with an emphasis on European Framework funding, you will be a self-starter who enjoys the challenge of mastering complex financial regulations and creating clear and consistent policies and processes to manage such. As this post will involve managing others and deputising for the EU and International Manager in their absence, experience of managing others’ tasks and overseeing and supporting team performance is also required. In addition to extensive post-award support, the role will also provide in-depth advice and support to investigators and departments submitting to EC and International funding schemes, providing an opportunity to use your experience to develop skills in pre-award support.

If you have the aforementioned, plus excellent troubleshooting and time-management skills, coupled with an attention-to-detail and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation, we would love to hear from you.

We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements.
