As the Deputy Production Manager for the Raw Board Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our manufacturing processes. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will contribute to the management and coordination of daily operations, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, and safety regulations are consistently met. You will lead a team of skilled professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and employee development.

Your Tasks

  • Manage the Raw Board department to operate efficiently and effectively to predetermined and agreed standards; within budgetary constraints and HSE standards.
  • Review and analyse the production process and recommend/implement ‘best practices’ to ensure improvements.
  • Liaise with the relevant engineering department with regard to any maintenance requirements of the Raw Board Department in conjunction with the Raw Board Production Manager.
  • Ensure all required production data is entered both punctually and precisely.
  • Review regularly the standard of housekeeping and the Raw Board process and recommend/implement ‘best practices’ to ensure improvements.
  • Ensure site environmental controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Assist the Raw Board Production Manager to manage and develop the personnel in the Department.
  • Attend any meetings required as part of the normal duties, including occasional trips to continental Europe.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding/technical knowledge of the Raw Board Department.
  • Review and maintain daily report requirements (e.g. Protocol process Values, alarm history, etc.) and initiate reaction if reports, values, trending show irregularities.
  • Align current work practices in relation to the 5S safety Scheme on site and recommend/implement best practice to improve this initiative.
  • Train as a Company fire warden, take part in incident control and the reviews of incidents.

Our Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably within the wood-based or related industry.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and their application in improving operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and resource management techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and propose data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines without compromising quality or safety.
  • Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are important
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations within a manufacturing environment.
