We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team at Allerton Waste Recovery Park supporting the daily operations.

What is the purpose of this role?

Your role will be to perform a variety of cross functional skilled technical duties to ensure ongoing operation and productivity of the facility.

You will operate mobile plant (overhead grab, fork lift truck, tele handler) in a safe efficient manner, moving waste materials to and from the processes.

In addition, you will oversee all waste movement on and off sites and ensure that waste is handled and received in accordance with company policies, procedures and legislation.

What will this role involve?

You will support in 3 key areas with specific duties for each being:

Crane
  • Ensure all pre-start checks are complete
  • Operate cranes in line with the manufacture’s operational guidance
  • Liaise with the tipping hall and control the traffic light system
  • Control bunker management at all times
  • Load the MT hoppers in a controlled and safe manner
  • Check for non-conforming waste
  • Create new programmes and do reports on the crane system
  • Monitor the crane CCTV and be able to make changes where necessary
Scada
  • Carry out pre-start checks and report any defects or damages
  • Ensure all safety systems are in place
  • Start up the plant and run it under the guidance for the shift supervisor
  • Monitor the CCTV system for the smooth running of the MT plant
  • Liase with the A.D and EFW teams
  • Do plant walk rounds checking for blockages, waste flows and general machine health checks
  • Checks the Scada system for high loads, alarms and tonnage
  • Complete reports and data entry
  • Ensure control room is kept clean and tidy
  • Help clear any blockages
Baler
  • Do pre-start checks on the balers and any plant machinery
  • Ensure the correct settings are been used
  • Weigh all bales and check for the correct material and for contamination
  • Conduct daily checks
  • Empty all skips
  • Take off any pallets or deliveries on site
  • Check and unload the dedusting skips
  • Complete bale KPI’s
  • Report any defects or damages

What are we looking for?

  • Familiar with/exposure data entry and reporting database applications
  • Forklift truck driving licence or front loader licence desirable however training will be provided if this is not held
  • Background in the waste, recycling or construction industry preferred but not essential.
  • Computer literate with a working understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with mobile plant equipment
