Job Description

Pertemps have an opportunity for a Chapel Assistant, to work at West Mill Cemetery and Crematorium on a temporary basis initially until May. You will provide ceremonial front of house funeral duties which will be of a high quality, customer focused, flexible and with an attention to detail.

As the Chapel Assistant, your duties will include Chapel Door attendant, attending interments, scatterings and linked services -
You will also be required to:
    Support families and Funeral Directors with ceremonial duties to include receiving the funeral cortege, family and mourners and usher into the chapel. This also includes traffic management and show mourners where to park.
    Assist with any enquiries from members of the public, Funeral Directors, Clergy and Celebrants
    Ensure dignity and respect is given to the bereaved, visitors and other stakeholders before and after any funeral service
    To be suitably dressed and presentable in line with a Bereavement Service environment
    Prepare the Chapel for each service ensuring that it is clean and tidy and in line with all relevant Health and Safety requirements and risk assessments
    Carry out other duties appropriate to the grade of the post including assisting with funerals, cremations, interments and administration of the deceased

To be successful for the role, you must have experience of dealing with visitors with compassion and empathy. You must have excellent customer service and communication skills, and have demonstrable experience working in a sensitive service.

This role is temporary initially until May, £12.18 per hour
