Credit Portfolio Group (CPG) Lending is a public-side global function with approximately 20 Portfolio Management, Research and Trading professionals across New York, London and Singapore and is part of the Global Markets business in the Corporate & Investment Bank. The group has a mandate to manage the retained credit portfolio minimizing credit losses and balance sheet inefficiency. Portfolio managers, researchers and traders work together with colleagues throughout the sales and trading organization and with external counterparties to manage the risk and return profile of the credit portfolio. This is achieved primarily via the secondary loan market, the CDS & bond market, and through bespoke structured solutions.

To succeed in this role, you will need to bring some prior experience in fundamental (corporate) analysis and markets (preferably fixed income). You will be lead analyst on specific industries and assist portfolio managers with fundamental analysis and trade recommendations. You will be involved in the entire process from idea generation, trade construction/pricing, portfolio & trade monitoring. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to apply your technical proficiency to manipulate and analyse large amounts of data.

Job responsibilities:
  • Perform credit analysis on individual issuers across corporates, financials and sovereigns (investment grade, high-yield and emerging markets);
  • Ongoing portfolio monitoring;
  • Keep up - to - date with market trends/market movers and the broader macro environment;
  • Recommend trading strategies to portfolio managers and traders;
  • Assist the team with ad-hoc presentations and reporting requirements.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • Demonstrable experience in fundamental company analysis (preferably credit);
  • Proficiency in analysing financial statements, financial modeling, and valuation with knowledge of relative value highly desired;
  • Genuine interest in financial markets and ability to grasp technical differences across financial products;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Intermediate-to-Advanced level of proficiency in Excel and Power Point;
  • Excellent quantitative skills, educated to degree level;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement under pressure.

This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities .
