Job content

We are looking for two Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join the Bracknell and Slough Specialist Community Team (CAMHS). Berkshire CAMHS is subdivided into pathways covering specific localities and specialising for different areas of need.

Ours (East Berkshire SCT-Bracknell) is a Multi-Disciplinary team that deliver treatments to young people in the Bracknell locality living with more complex, severe, and enduring mental health problems. As a result, you’ll find yourself working jointly with other professionals and often needing to be creative and go off-model in individual therapy.

You’ll also find yourself working with other agencies such as Children’s Social Care. The ideal clinician for the job will be interested in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, be thoughtful and reflective, and someone who likes working as a group and sharing ideas.

The team is warm, compassionate, and welcoming. This role (band 7) would be ideal for someone completing their Clinical or Counselling Psychology doctorate. You’ll be provided with a very supportive introduction, with regular supervision (clinical and management) and plenty of in-house training opportunities. We also have our free parking on-site. Caseloads are protected and manageable despite a waitlist for treatment.

The Post Holder Will
  • provide comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions to young people and their families, as appropriate
  • provide care coordination for young people open to the service
  • independently manage an appropriately sized caseload
  • use supervision effectively
  • work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and within a multiagency system
  • work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice
  • maintain own continuing professional development and contribute to team professional development initiatives
The work we do can take an emotional toll, and it is not for everyone, but it is always stimulating and rewarding. We like to have reflective discussions and team formulations; we make a real effort to be compassionate and supportive to our colleagues, which certainly makes a difference.

The Three “must-haves” To Be Considered For This Role
  • A therapeutic qualification, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
  • Experience in Mental Health services at a B6 (or equivalent) level.
  • The ability to manage a complex caseload
