Location: National Trust Café Trelissick, Truro

Duration: This is a permanent role

The wage: £8.91 per hour (G10 Cook)

The Hours: 30 hours per week, working 4 out of 7 days which will include weekends and public/ school holidays. Typical shift pattern is 8am to 3.30pm. There is flexibility for additional hours as the business requires it. There will be some occasions where evenings are required as and when we are hosting a function.

What it’s like to work here:You will be working within a bustling atmosphere as part of a passionate team, the role of Cook plays a core part in providing a fantastic food offer to our visitors. You will ideally enjoy making soups and rustic style one pot dishes from fresh/seasonal ingredients and will be confident with creating bakes and cakes. You will be comfortable in following recipes with accuracy and will be confident working at pace whilst maintaining high standards and will relish the opportunity to provide input for local recipes and function menus.You will be based at Crofter’s Cafe where our kitchens, café, courtyard and barn will keep you busy on a daily basis with corporate and private functions adding to the daily demands. You will become part of a friendly, high performance team who have a proven track record for success and growth.

Interviews: This is for an immediate start, with interviews being held by appointment on receiving applications.

What you’ll be doing:With your passion for food and your appetite to provide an exceptional service to your customers, you’ll work with the National Trust Cookbook framework to prepare delicious food. Working with local produce you’ll always be looking for ways to minimise waste and control costs and resources. With your attention to detail you’ll ensure each dish is fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time.

As a key member of our busy Food & Beverage team, you’ll make sure the team is working effectively to deliver great results. You may also be required, on occasions to supervise volunteers.

You’ll help the Food & Beverage team ensure our kitchens are presented to the highest standard and are compliant with all relevant legislation around food hygiene and COSHH.

The National Trust ethos will always be at the forefront of your mind, and you’ll be proud to share our good work with our customers, you’ll look to maximise sales with new ideas so that the profit can be reinvested back into our conservation work.
