About The Role

Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, London, Belfast or Dublin. Travel to Glasgow will be required regularly for team interaction.

As Offshore Control Systems Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for the management of the Offshore Control Systems Engineering Team providing technical leadership across the offshore portfolio of projects and generation assets. You’ll provide specialist expertise during the development, construction, commissioning and operational phases of our projects and you will be responsible for the development and on-going management of relevant Engineering and Design Standards.

Some Of Your Main Accountabilities Will Include
  • Managing the Control Systems Engineering Team ensuring Corporate and Business Unit processes and procedures are carried out effectively and consistently across the team.
  • Ensuring the Offshore Control Systems Engineering Team operate safely in line with SSE and Renewables Engineering processes and procedures
  • Performance management across the team to ensure all staff are set and deliver against challenging objectives.
  • Providing technical leadership and support within the Controls and Telecoms disciplines to ensure appropriate standards and integrity programmes are established and delivered across the fleet and portfolio of Capital Projects.
  • Ensuring the quality of all works delivered by the Control Systems Engineering Team is of the required standard and achieves the full requirements of the customer or stakeholder.
  • Promoting and delivering knowledge management activities to ensure continuous improvements are applied consistently across the team; to support the on-going development of staff; and ensure the appropriate skills are utilised across the wider team to support delivery.
What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
  • A degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering or other relevant subject
  • Significant experience and knowledge of SCADA and Control System design, operation and management in an operational or project environment.
  • Experience of leading an Engineering team with the ability to organise and motivate staff to deliver effectively to agreed timescales and quality.
  • Capability of setting an exceptional safety culture across the team, showing by example, to develop a team who are highly engaged with applying safety standards and pursuing improvements and possess an understanding of technical/commercial interactions in large capital projects and/or operational environments.
