WUTH has an enthusiastic and dynamic Histopathology department who are looking for new team members to meet the challenges of increased cancer work and TATs.

Successful applicants will be joining a department of 8 WTE Consultants and can expect
  • 10+ PA contract

  • Involvement in teaching of ST1s and Registrars
  • Full support with EQA
  • Digital Pathology is being introduced at the Department
  • Contribution to Autopsy Rota is desirable but not essential
The Histopathology department follows a pull system of case allocation and is sub-specialised. All the consultants currently report at least 2-3 specialties. We are open to candidates being generalist or subspecialists and will be happy to discuss the specialty interests and their wish to develop these. An interest in one or more of the following specialties: skin, GIT, Respiratory, Gynae, Non-Gynae cytology including thyroid and Urology, will be helpful.

The department undertakes coronial autopsies, in a recently refurbished mortuary, and is UKAS accredited. Approximately 6 trainees get posted to the Department every year. We have one BMS who has passed the Diploma of expert practice in Histological Dissection and has been contributing to the cut up for the last 2 years and we have another enthusiastic BMS who will be starting the Diploma in autumn.
