We are looking for a Communications Managerto join our organisation. At Aggreko, we have a lot going on – a commitment to be net-zero, new owners, a new purpose, new priorities – all driving lots of activity to improve what we do for our colleagues and our customers.

We need a communications expert to help us engage our colleagues and customers in everything we’re trying to do to power progress for our customers.

The person in this role will provide expert communication advice; they’ll plan and work with people across the business to help drive engagement in the projects, campaigns and behaviour change we need.

You’ll be working with project managers, global process leads, the People team, senior leaders, sales teams, regional marketing teams…and a vast range of other people across the world to create and deliver joined up internal and external communication plans, aligned to the Aggreko communications strategy.

Aggreko is a busy place right now. The person in this role will need to understand all the various changes and work with the wider global communications team to engage our colleagues and customers, to drive the right behaviours and to drive performance.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic communications direction, messaging frameworks, advice, guidance and delivery to a variety of projects and campaigns – right down to writing the comms and getting it to the people who need to see it
  • Making sure we have a joined up, integrated comms plan across all our different regions
  • Provide communications advice that project managers and work stream leads can run with
  • Working with teams across the business to create any assets (case studies, editorials, white papers etc.) to support the business strategy
  • Managing any media relations issues and crisis communications that come up
  • Providing communications best practice, creative ideas, and the latest techniques
  • Understanding whether our communications are hitting the mark
  • Working closely with the global communications and marketing community to help deliver our various programmes

The knowledge and skills you’ll need to be successful:

  • Great at building strong relationships quickly
  • We need someone who’s got experience working with people across the world on projects that will make a real difference for our people and our customers. You’ll need to build an appreciation of and confidence in the value of good communications with our stakeholders
  • You’re comfortable working in an environment that doesn’t have all the answers yet and are nimble and can adapt to changes as they happen
  • You’re curious and can ask the awkward or challenging questions
  • Focused on keeping things simple with great attention to detail
  • Creative, adaptable, and flexible
  • It goes without saying you’ll need to be a great writer and be able to work through a large amount of complex detail to get to the nub of the message
  • A passion for engaging people and customers and an ability to inspire action and change
  • A track record as a ‘strategic doer’, who can give expert strategic advice and be a trusted counsel to our senior leaders, as well as jumping in and getting your hands dirty
  • We’re a diverse and dispersed group of people at Aggreko so experience working across cultural boundaries, languages and remote populations is a must.
  • The heat is on, so you’ll be under pressure and need to be able to work to some tight timelines
  • A good understanding of how businesses work, what’s important and how to get ahead
  • We use a variety of different communication channels and systems here at Aggreko, so being technically and media savvy is a must.
