Edge Hill Students’ Union is a membership organisation – everything we do is shaped by students and supported by a team of staff. Applications are invited for our new Communications Manager, who will use their background working across communications and campaign activities to lead our front-facing work within the Student Voice Team.

The role-holder will oversee the continued development of our thriving communications team, ensuring that coordinator level staff are supported and encouraged to be creative in their ownership of channels using a range of goals and SMART metrics. Additionally, the role-holder will also bring together our societies and opportunities coordinators, hosting the Union’s fortnightly content meeting to ensure ideas are shared, good news stories are effectively communicated, and that issues are identified and resolved. In this sense, the department will take a content-first approach to engagement: capitalising on all opportunities to shout about our members, their successes, and how the Students’ Union is the hub of belonging and confidence on campus.

The successful candidate will be confident in generating ideas, be rigorous when it comes to details (particularly around data entry), and will role-model the Union’s values when it comes to their approach to the role and behaviour. This is an ideal role for a communications professional who also has experience working alongside events and/or membership based engagement structures.

This role has direct line management responsibility and will be expected to lead and develop a diverse team to deliver a programme of student engagement services.

Candidates must have a degree or equivalent demonstrable experience of working within a similar role or organisation, excellent communication skills, knowledge of the importance of accurate data collection, and proven experience collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders.
