Founded in 1922, the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) is the UK based and internationally recognised qualifying body and learned society for chemical, biochemical and process engineers. We exist to advance chemical engineering’s contribution for the benefit of society.

We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and we are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.

Position:

We are looking for a lively, creative and dynamic individual with experience of working in a fast-paced in-house communications role or full-service public relations agency to join our communications team.

The post holder’s primary role is to produce communications campaigns and take responsibility for IChemE’s social media platforms by designing and delivering social media campaigns, monitoring these platforms, developing collating measurement criteria data and utilising tools available to provide insights to increase engagement with our target audiences.

You will have a degree in communications/public relations/marketing or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a communications role. You will have strong digital marketing skills, experience in producing creative digital content and a sound understanding and experience of using social media channels.

Requirements:

Core responsibilities of the role include:
  • Creating communications campaigns to support IChemE’s vision and values
  • Taking responsibility for IChemE’s various social media platforms – including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram
  • Producing compelling member e-newsletters
  • Evaluating communications campaigns
Other information:

This position is based in Rugby (CV21 3HQ) with flexible working arrangements in place meaning you will be working three days from the Rugby office and the remainder working from your UK home location. There will be times when you may be required to attend the workplace on remote working days as and when IChemE requires. Should this happen we will give you reasonable notice.

This is a permanent full-time role based on 37.5 hours per week working Monday through to Friday.

Starting salary is circa £28,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus benefits which includes an excellent pension scheme.
