Commercial Underwriter

Due to some changes internally we now have a new requirement for a number of Commercial Underwriters to join our Commercial Underwriting team.

The Commercial Underwriters will provide the highest standards of underwriting of commercial mortgage applications so that a professional service is provided and stakeholder expectations are met by assessing risk, adhering to appropriate criteria and procedures and by being flexible and efficient.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review applications from brokers and customers within agreed service levels so that the process works to maximum effect.
  • Professionally asses all applications against lending criteria received from all sources to ensure that risk is minimised.
  • Accurately evaluate information on all applicants so that the decision made is plausible, sustainable and affordable.
  • Proactively monitor all pending applications from brokers to ensure service levels are maintained.
  • Complete all allocated workflow tasks with the published SLA timeframe
  • Achieve and maintain financial mandate through competency framework assessments
  • Present a professional image of the company to all third parties to ensure a positive impression is created and maintained.
  • Handle all correspondence and queries from third parties and across areas of the business so that all applications remain up to date.
  • Be clear and consistent in communication with brokers in order to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Manage any queries or issues from direct customers and brokers so that a positive outcome is achieved and business levels are maximised.
  • Accurately instruct solicitors to act on behalf of Together in the conveyancing process
  • Able to clearly document and demonstrate the rationale behind a lending decision to senior mandators as part of the financial mandate process
