What will I be doing?


We are recruiting for a Commercial Lead who will provide the wholesale function with commercial and pricing expertise, analysis and insight. You will support the development of the wholesale commercial strategy, competitor pricing analysis, new pricing models as well as recommending day to day tactical pricing across the product portfolio.


More specifically, your key accountabilities will include:


  • Responsible for KCOM’s wholesale pricing strategic plan definition and implementation, including model creation and the generation of robust data-driven proposals. This includes managing others.
  • Work with the product team to understand and qualify the market opportunity, define key customers and market insights to deliver the business’s overall strategic plan. Appropriately manage related risks and issues, and creating forward-looking growth plans.
  • Develop commercially sound proposition strategies to unlock market opportunities and at the same time drive the commercial priorities. Support sales and product teams to successfully deliver KCOM wholesale’s commercial objectives. This includes both new products and product enhancements.
  • Provide financial and commercial analysis and insight into performance of the existing product portfolio. Work closely with KCOM Group Finance.
  • Track and report retrospectively on monthly commercial and product financial performance, including long term profitability analysis, strategic commercial approach and returns on investment, to inform future product development
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and deep dives into specific products, analysing usage, profitability, competitor activity and market dynamics
  • Review pricing of existing and new business proposals to ensure they are aligned with company margin, risk and contingency provisions
  • Ensure all customer and supplier bids/contracts and proposals are approved and reviewed in line with deal approval governance and policy prior to submission/signature. This will include building a framework to assess commercial performance, define and drive required improvements.
  • Identify, manage and report on key commercial / legal risks (legal risks to be communicated to Legal function and ongoing appropriate support / liaison to be maintained)
  • Lead annual product pricing activity, creating and presenting options for approval, and then implementing them with the appropriate matrix teams across the organisation.
  • Identify, manage and report on key commercial, legal and regulatory risks. Work closely with the relevant teams to ensure that all appropriate functions take ownership of the relevant matters.


We are looking for individuals who:


  • Senior experience in defining and reviewing pricing and commercial models in one or more regulated industries.
  • Prior experience in a regulator or consultancy dealing with pricing and costing models is critical
  • Proven experience in a commercial leadership role (product, propositions, financial management)
  • Experience with Costperform or other regulated costing software is an advantage
  • Experience in Telecommunications Industry or working in other IT or Technical markets
